My urban landscapes often focus on relatively mundane depictions of human activity against a backdrop of interesting inner west architecture.
This painting depicts a quiet but characteristically sloping Glebe street as the sun makes a last effort to peek through cloud before setting. This painting forms part of a series entitled Portrait of a Landscape in which I explore themes of change and resilience in the ecosystem or architecture, people and culture in Sydney’s inner water. It’s a moody winter’s day and everyone is inside but the glimmer of sunlight gives us hope and a reminder that spring renewal is on the way.
