My work draws inspiration from the subtle, often overlooked moments in nature, blending my experiences as a visual artist and my background in the construction industry. This painting, inspired by a recent visit to Bouddi National Park, captures a unique natural formation—a small, hidden niche created by the convergence of three rock faces. In architecture, a niche refers to a recessed space with a specialized function, and I’ve used this concept metaphorically in my art to reflect on the spaces we carve out for ourselves in life.

As I observed this secluded nook in nature, overlooking the waves crashing far below, I began to reflect on the time, resilience, and natural forces that shaped the rocks over centuries. It mirrors the personal journey we all undergo—where life’s challenges and experiences carve us into our unique selves, each layer adding depth and character.

Through my painting process, I focus on creating these intricate layers, allowing the brushstrokes to build up over time, much like the natural forces shaping the landscape. My aim is to evoke a sense of discovery and introspection in the viewer, encouraging them to find beauty in the quiet, hidden corners of both the world and their own lives. This artwork is a testament to resilience, growth, and the transformation that time brings.
