I'm a mature age artist graduate of NAS Sydney and COFA(UNSW) with a Dip Art Ed degree and a former Art Education Teacher in NSW High Schools for many years.
I now focus on my own work, having retired from teaching. My practice has evolved through an experimental process of paint manipulation and mark making driven by a desire to express both personal emotions and a love of the serendipity of medias ability to evolve in it's own way as it is manipulated and directed, driven by the influence of my lived experience in Asia, particularly in relation to Japanese culture and philosophy and the character of it's celebration of the spontaneous moments of perfection achieved in a single action. The painting I've submitted speaks to my love of swimming laps in pools, when light plays on the water in such a way as to carry one into a meditative state of relaxed breathing, resulting in a state known as Zen, where I feel completely at one with my body and mind.
