My sculptural textile artwork is a fusion of intricate beading and natural fibre weaving, which I design and make. The hand beaded motif radiates out from a mother of pearl and paua shell centre piece, and is framed by the hand woven palm inflorescence from my late mother's garden. These textures and elements, including coral, turquoise and shell, symbolize connection between land, sea and spirit. This piece evokes a sense of unity, storytelling and reverence for the natural world.
