I made this to reflect upon my father: a man of the sea who settled in Australia for love and family.
By making this work, I acknowledge his creative influence as much as my mother, who was well-known for her creative flair and crafting abilities.
Dad made rugs during his downtime upon the seas and continued at home until other demands eclipsed this outlet. However, his lateral thinking, practical skills, and disregard for convention always remained.
He was a master of making-do with very little; my use of mostly recycled and found media reflect this practicality.
