My body of work demonstrates the winter season in my hometown. Cold, rainy winters were not very pleasant. However, there is one rainy evening I like. Perhaps the best one I pictured. One evening, I felt so bored, and my body felt stiff. The room was cold, the heater was broken, and I wore multiple layers of clothing, lit three candles, and placed them near the window. I decided to look out of the window to take a glimpse of the rainy evening. I stared for a few minutes, then noticed the scene started to glow brighter. There were numerous gentle raindrops as they blurred out the street and house lights, like I was seeing colourful burning candles shining in the night, like Christmas Eve or the French Impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh's painting, "A Starry Night". The ground was filled with water along with the reflection of the lights, which looked exactly like a glowing ocean from a sunset's replication. Afterward, several people were walking by, and I was amazed as I saw them clearly with all this light and rain, just like they were walking in the daytime. The funny thing I noticed is that all the umbrellas were coloured red. I am not sure why, but they do combine well with the dark red buildings in the background. Even when the people walked on the glowing wet ground, it was like they were walking on water, either on a river or on the sea, to who knows where. I was mesmerized by the beauty of this rainy evening, along with the raindrops dripping on the window screen, as I could see the multiple versions of water, and with the beauty of the candles and their reflection on the window. The soft texture of the lights is painted in several circles as the watery ground is painted with delicate brushstrokes with multi-blue and yellow paints, the raindrops sitting and dripping on the window are in touches of white and dark green paint to resemble a real-life raindrop. To conclude, the brushstrokes of the curtain were painted faintly to make the curtain transparent.
