Growing up in Grafton as a child, I always believed that the land in Australia would be respected. However, as I grew older, that belief was not just shattered but completely destroyed. First Nation's People across this country remain physically disconnected from their land, which was taken without consent and never returned. Boundaries have been imposed by rules that ignore Aboriginal lore. The feeling of "Strictly No Admittance" is pervasive. The inability to access land to maintain and grow with it is devastating our people.

We acknowledge the Gadigal of the Eora Nation, traditional custodians of the country on which we stand, and recognise their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.
