This mixed media work depicts a group of endangered Regent honeyeaters among the leaves and blossoms of a bottlebrush (Callistemon). In this piece I’ve used acrylic paint and mediums and handmade leaf stencils to build texture. Abstract leaf details and other fine work is created using inks. I love to capture the beauty of the flora and the fauna in my paintings and have put the honeyeater centre stage to show their dramatic plumage and also to call attention to their dwindling numbers in Australian avian wildlife.
