This piece is a celebration of Australia’s remarkable bird diversity, inspired by photographs I have taken throughout the country. The only exception is the Cassowary, for which I used a photograph by Lina Peña, who kindly granted me permission to use her image. The species depicted are particularly meaningful to me, and some have been arranged according to their geographic distribution across Australia. The artwork began as a collage of photographs, which gradually transformed into a hand-drawn composition. After more than 20 hours of work with coloured pencils, each bird came to life, allowing me to capture not only their colours and forms, but also a little of the character that makes each species unique.
