Catch Me If You Can follows the exhilarating dance of Welcome Swallows (Hirundo neoxena) as they swoop and dive through Petersham Park, skimming just low enough to tempt the dogs below into hopeful sprints, still bound to the ground. The swallows fly on, unhurried and assured, as if aware the chase can never reach them, their flight unfolding between rise and fall – a calm, continuous rhythm shaped by air.
I was inspired by my many visits to the park with my dog Molly (bottom left in the painting) and watching the swallows as they swoop down and entice Molly to chase them. I've recently started creating art to share at exhibitions in Sydney and work in a variety of mediums.
