Rivers are so mysterious. They constantly change, never the same as the water moves, or the light alters with the time of the day or impending weather. I often paint the same location wanting to capture how difference in light, wind and current affect atmosphere. In this case I arrived early before the sun rose above the tree canopy and was enthralled by how the river became dark and mysterious, almost frightening. I was drawn toward it, absorbed by my feelings looking at it whilst reflecting on how important it is to protect the environment so that we can continue to enjoy these spaces for our mental and social health as well as the benefit to the earth.
