This self-portrait was created as a successful application for Portrait Artist of The Year (Season Two). I placed myself lower on the board to suggest a feeling of hesitation and quiet self-consciousness. My awkward, slightly cheeky pose with gaze looking away reflect my anxious personality. Bold glasses and pink lips reflect my need to self-express. The round board softens the bright portrait, reinforcing safety and comfort. Overall, my portrait portrays just a local artist whilst a little awkward, is still light-hearted, peaceful and present.
