Marooned unfolds through expressive forms that only hint at the beginnings of a portrait. I approach each work without the pressure to represent the figurative. Instead, I allow colour, chance, and the immediacy of the moment to guide me. Immersed in the beauty of each hue and its relationship to the canvas, the image evolves through instinct rather than intention.
As our lives shift across decades, our thoughts transform and our histories unfold. Each painting becomes a record of a fleeting moment—an imprint of presence, emotion, and experience. Just as a human life is a brief flicker across millennia, a painting captures a single instant within that vast continuum. Marooned stands as a testament to being fully present in the moment of creation.
