When we look at a mirror it is usually ourselves we see, we glance and move on. But here the reflection goes the other way, inviting us to pause and contemplate the beauty of the flowers, the vase, and the ornamental mirror itself, which is not a mirror at all but rather a painting of one.  This picture is a development of themes explored in my most recent solo exhibitions, sumptuous flowers, elegant interiors and classic still life (2025: ‘Floreat’ and 2024: ‘Odes’ at Art Gallery on Darling, Balmain).
