In Ovaherero Matriarch, a proud woman sits surrounded by the craftwork that defines her daily artistry. Her Ohorokova dress — once a colonial mandate — is now worn with intention, dignity, and cultural pride. The horn‑shaped hat rises like a sculptural emblem of resilience. Her craftwork speaks to the same story: survival through creation. After the Herero and Nama genocide, Herero women turned imposed clothing into a symbol of remembrance and resistance. The objects she displays extend that legacy, showing how culture is preserved not only in dress but in the work of her hands.
