As a contemporary artist I engage with the environment simplifying shapes, patterns and contrasts to create paintings using a restricted palette. I physically immerse myself in nature to observe and sketch whilst looking for shapes that occur in nature.  
In this painting it was the light that caused me to pause to look out. Not the detail, but the light. I simplified everything that was in the landscape painting only the shapes, colour and layers created by the light coming through the shadows and forms.
