I am a kiln fired glass artist, practicing out of the One+2 Studio in Rozelle.
Walking along the Glebe shoreline, the mangroves reveal a network of intertidal wetlands where rockpools shelter fish, crabs and fragile marine life. ROCKPOOL is a kiln fired glass work set within a 30 × 30 cm frame. Multiple colours of glass frit and glass powder fuse into a circular form, creating smaller pools shaped by the heat of the kiln. A gentle slump firing introduces movement, echoing tidal rhythms. Its delicate, translucent surface mirrors the vulnerability of the mangroves and the broader coastal environment they support.
