Painted at the start of this year, the year of the fire horse, this painting is a part of my continuing experimental exploration into open intuitive expressive abstract painting.
As I painted openly into the late hours of the night, I utilised a recently discovered painting technique whereby I continuously twirled and twisted the paint brush, creating a feathering/plume, smoke/spiral like effect in my brushwork, which I’m very happy with.
As a Lao Australian Buddhist Christian artist, this painting is an example of my continuing study and exploration into the nature and presence of spirit and faith.
Inspired by my interests in crystals and angels, I’ve named it Seraphim, the six winged celestial burning angels of fire.
I am based in Newtown. I am mostly self taught as a painter. In high school in 1994, I was the recipient of the ARTEXPRESS Gould League Environment Award.
