For me, the photograph is less about my love of surfing and more about the instinct to meet something larger than ourselves. Not by conquering it, but by moving with it. This photograph captures that very tension between control and surrender. The surfer appears almost insignificant against the immense force of the ocean, yet remains completely committed to the moment. The explosion of spray dominates the surfing figure, blurring the boundary between person and wave.
