In Ancient Greece, a Temenos was a physical space carved out from everyday life and dedicated entirely to the gods. It functioned as a zone of the divine where human laws were suspended in favour of the sacred. From this viewpoint, it is also a glimpse into the diverse layers of society and architecture from the nineteenth century to the present.
