Blackwattle Bay is one of my favourite places to photograph, in all weathers. The city skyline, clouds and colours reflected at sunrise, morning rowers, our beautiful Anzac Bridge, the white-faced herons and on a very good day, a pelican cruising by. On this recent morning I was so happy to see the mist, with the skyline and towers moving in and out of view. I hadn't planned though on the weather getting heavier. Was it mist or was it fog? It didn't really matter, but as I started to feel light raindrops on my face, I couldn't tear myself away, the city lights still shone so brightly. I paid the price, with a few raindrops on my lens, and the shots, but I like them....mementos of a moment.
I'm a local, having lived in Glebe and Forest Lodge almost 30 years. I often head out around the Bay or into the city with my camera and a plan in mind, but I'm happiest when the unexpected happens. I've come to photography only in recent years, and it has opened up the world for me. I see everything differently. Every day, everywhere I walk, I notice interactions, stories, patterns, shadows, textures, frames, that I often feel compelled to share.
