The Glebe Art Show is more than walls of wonderful work to walk past. This year we are opening the gallery for two relaxed evening events, both built around a simple pleasure: a wine in your hand, time to slow down, and good company while you get properly amongst the art. Both nights are a genuine win win. They are a fun way to spend a Friday, immerse yourself in the show, and meet people who love art as much as you do, and the prizes give you a real chance to take home an artwork for your own walls at a bargain while supporting the local artists behind every piece.
Sip and Seek
Friday 16 October, 6.00pm to 8.00pm
Part happy hour, part gallery treasure hunt. You will arrive to a glass of wine and some nibbles, then take on a card full of playful challenges that get you seeing the art in a way you never usually would. Hunt for hidden details, spot the connections between pieces, crack a puzzle built from the artwork titles, and back your eye against everyone else's. It is all about slowing down, looking closer, and having a laugh while you do it. We regroup a few times through the evening to compare answers and meet new faces, so it is as much a social night as a game. Sharpest eyes win art vouchers on the night, your chance to pick up a piece you love at a genuine bargain and hand a local artist a guaranteed sale.
No art knowledge needed. Come for the wine, stay for the fun, and leave seeing art a little differently.
Sip and Draw
Friday 23 October, 6.00pm to 8.00pm
A social figure drawing session guided by artist instagram.com/emmaferguson.art. There is a draped model, a run of short timed poses, and a few loosening-up exercises that make it easy for absolutely anyone to join in. Bring your own materials if you like, and we will have paper, pencils and charcoal on hand for you to use. Your wine is sorted, so you can turn up fresh, follow Emma's lead, and enjoy the simple fun of putting marks on paper surrounded by wonderful work. We wrap up with a friendly show and tell, with prizes for a couple of standout sketches, awarded as art vouchers that let you take home a piece at a bargain while backing a local artist.
