Anita is a Uruguayan artist who now lives and works in Sydney. She studied Gobeline and drawing, as well as painting, ceramics, street theatre, printing and crafts, bringing to each medium an exploratory practice. Inspired primarily by Impressionist and Abstract Expressionist artists of the twentieth century, she works with vivid colours, creating a world of spontaneity, colours and shapes that arise as the work progresses.
Anita's practice revolves around the serendipitous nature of her work, in which abstract landscapes, cities full of mysteries, passages, tunnels, seas, and people appear naturally as she paints. Her work invites contemplation, with the forms becoming clearer on closer inspection.
